But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. Romans 13:14
Are you familiar with Ephesians 6:10-18? Most intercessors are. This passage of scripture outlines the pieces of the Armor of God, which the believer should put on as they prepare to fight against the spiritual forces of darkness.
These forces can only be defeated with spiritual weapons. God gave us these weapons. He also provided our battle gear. The pieces of God’s armor are God’s truth, righteousness, peace, faith and His word. These pieces are fitted together by the power of the Holy Spirit.
God’s armor has been tried and tested and is available to all believers. David, in 1 Samuel 17:38-39, chose not to wear Saul’s armor because he was not “used to them”. Instead, he went after Goliath clothed in the familiar gear of faith and confidence in the name of his God, Yahweh, and he was victorious.
Paul said, “take unto you the whole Armor of God”. The believer has to take the armor and put it on, piece by piece. In 2 Chronicles 20, God told Jehoshaphat and his army that they would not need to fight. The battle belonged to God. Yet God told them to take up their positions, stand firm and see the deliverance of the Lord. Although they did not have to fight, God still expected them to show up fully dressed for battle. Then they would see His deliverance.
What are you wearing today?
Prayer: Father, everything we need for life and godliness has already been provided by You, and is wrapped up in Your Son Jesus who died so that these would become available to us. I ask the Holy Spirit today, to open our eyes so we may see and understand all that You have prepared for those who love You. Amen
